Social Minister Natalia Efremova announced that no final decision has been made yet regarding potential structural changes to the social welfare system. The comment was made during a blitz question session at the Committee on Labor, Demographic and Social Policy.
The minister emphasized that the core functions of the regional directorates are directly related to adoptions and foster care. "Before I am certain that these two functions, which concern the youngest and most vulnerable children, will be fully secured, I will not proceed with making a final decision," she clarified.
Efremova assured that even in the event of administrative changes to local management, no staff cuts are planned. According to her, the agency has enough vacant positions, which will allow employees to retain their roles at the Social Assistance Agency even if the number of regional directorates is reduced.
