Inspectors found more than 30 websites that illegally sell unapproved medicines, including peptides, in 70 checks. Health minister Katya Ivkova said the cases have been sent to GDBOP, Bulgaria's organised crime agency.
Bogdan Kirilov, head of the Bulgarian Drug Agency (IAL), said the agency has a list of sites with active links to such offers. The products are sold outside the legal rules for selling medicines.
Ivkova said many Bulgarians use peptides to get quick results, mostly weight loss, and do not know what substance they are taking. She said all these steps aim to protect public health.
Kirilov warned that medicines sold online outside the rules carry health risks. IAL continues to work with GDBOP, the cybercrime directorate and prosecutors to find new sites of this kind in time.
