The 23rd edition of the National Summer Student Games "Summer University" kicked off with enthusiasm in the seaside resort of Kiten, bringing together students from all over the country for eight days of sports, training, and social networking. The event, which takes place from today until August 31, is organized by the National Representation of Student Councils (NRSC) and has established itself as a key platform for dialogue and the exchange of experience among student communities in Bulgaria.
A Tradition That Connects Generations
The initiative, now known as "Summer University", began its journey back in 2002 as the "National Student Games". With each subsequent edition, it has grown and evolved to become an event of national scale. Over the years, the project has changed its name—from the original "National Student Games" in Kranevo, Balchik municipality, to "Summer University", adopted in 2009 under the official name National Summer Student Games "Summer University". This tradition, which has been creating conditions for active dialogue between student communities for 23 years, is a symbol of continuity and sustainability.
A Packed Agenda for an Active Summer
The program for the 23rd edition is rich and diverse, aiming to provide participants with opportunities for both expression and personal development. The games will feature competitions in various sports disciplines such as football, volleyball, and beach tennis, as well as numerous other tournaments. While the adrenaline of the competitions fills the air, the organizers have also provided a rich social program to stimulate new friendships and contacts. In addition to the sports events, students will have access to lectures and training sessions to enrich their knowledge and skills. These activities will take place at the "Green park" hotel in Kiten and on the lively "Atliman" beach, where the emotions and passion of the sports tournaments are at their peak, and spectators applaud every successful shot.
The NRSC's Mission: Sports and Education
According to a statement from the organizers at NRSC, the main goal of "Summer University" is to create the conditions for active socio-educational responsibility and the development of mass sports among students.
They emphasize that the initiative gives all students from higher education institutions in Bulgaria the opportunity to participate in mass sports events. By holding the project for eight days in the resort village of Kiten, the NRSC aims to affirm the importance of sports as a means for health and community building, far from the confines of university lecture halls. Participants will immerse themselves in an atmosphere filled with a sporting spirit and a desire to win, but also with a spirit of collegiality and friendship.
