During the past day, a total of 28 drivers were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol – 12 of them drove after consuming alcohol between 0.5 and 1.2 per mille, and 16 drove with over 1.2 per mille; two refused to be tested. One driver was caught driving under the influence of narcotic substances or their analogues, and three refused to be tested. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Interior.
A total of 11,551 motor vehicles were checked as part of the specialized police operation for compliance with the Road Traffic Act. Control was carried out on 13,323 drivers and passengers. 2,258 tickets and 398 acts were issued for established administrative violations.
The focus of the operation is to prevent driving by drivers who have consumed alcohol, narcotic substances and/or their analogues, as well as driving vehicles by unqualified drivers.
One person died and 11 were injured in eight serious road accidents in the country on the first day of the new year.
