To emphasize the importance of dementia prevention, active and healthy aging, and the roles of nutrition, physical activity, and social interaction, the Home Social Patronage – Burgas is organizing two special initiatives to mark World Alzheimer's Day on September 21.

One of Burgas's most iconic landmarks – the Bridge – will be illuminated in purple during the evening as a gesture of solidarity and awareness for those living with Alzheimer's disease and their loved ones. The day's program is diverse and includes:

Participants in the "Forgotten Order Cafe" will include Dr. Dilyana Stoyanova (endocrinologist), Dr. Mariana Nedelkova (dietitian and nutritionist), and Denitsa Pantova (rehabilitation specialist and occupational therapist). They will explore how daily habits – what we eat, how much we move, and how much we socialize – impact healthy aging. The initiative aims to view dementia not just as a medical diagnosis, but as a human story encompassing an individual's needs, dignity, and social standing.

Everyone in Burgas is invited, regardless of age. No special skills or prior preparation are required – only a willingness to participate, as active movement is key to physical and mental well-being. Admission to the events is free.

Parallel to these activities, the Home Social Patronage – Burgas continues its mission of providing practical support within the city. As of September 15, a new social reception center has opened in the "Meden Rudnik" district, at 3 Apostol Voyvoda St., floor 1, located near the Vegetable Market. Through this center, users and personal assistants under the "Personal Assistance" mechanism from this and surrounding areas can benefit from administrative assistance and consultations.
