MES announced the results of the August-September matriculation exams

A total of 33 Bulgarian language and literature exam papers were annulled due to identical answers during the country's summer examination session.

The Ministry of Education and Science (MES) has officially announced the results of the state matriculation exams held during the August-September session, the institution's press office reported.

The Ministry of Education informs that a total of 33 exam papers were annulled during the summer session due to identical answers to tasks on the Bulgarian language and literature matriculation exam. This restrictive measure, introduced for the first time during the May session, aims to limit the ability of students to receive grades when identical content is established in some of the open-ended questions. According to the MES, the changes to the Ordinance on Assessing Student Learning Outcomes were adopted to protect the hard work of all graduates who prepared conscientiously and rely solely on their own knowledge and efforts.

It is important to note that students whose exam papers were annulled retain the right to sit for future exam sessions. Furthermore, all students are given a period of three working days during which they can review their individual evaluated exam papers at the schools where they completed their 12th-grade secondary education.

The summer session is intended for students who were not admitted to previous exams, missed them for certain reasons, or received a failing grade on a previous state matriculation exam. Statistics for the session show the following data regarding participating graduates:

The Bulgarian language and literature exam took place on August 21 in 435 schools across the country, marking the start of the August-September exam campaign. The total number of tasks on the matriculation exam was 41, distributed as follows: 22 multiple-choice questions, 16 short-answer questions, two extended open-ended questions, and one text-creation task.
