Bulgaria's ministry of economy, investment and industry is preparing a programme to develop industrial zones across the country, deputy minister Levent Memish has said. He opened the National Business Conference on Bulgaria's new investment map at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) and welcomed the partnership with the university.

"Investment is the government's main priority. The aim is new production, jobs and sustainable growth," Memish said.

Memish said industrial zones are a focus of investment policy. "We have planned a programme to develop industrial zones across the country, and our ambition is for every euro of public investment to unlock private capital," he said. State money should create conditions for private firms to invest more and open new production lines.

Memish called for better conditions for investors. Institutions should coordinate their work better, he said, and business should face less red tape.

Memish insisted that business, education and science must be more closely linked. In the coming years, skilled workers and technology will decide how competitive the Bulgarian economy is, he said. He added that dialogue between business, institutions and local economic leaders matters for the development of the regions.

The national conference continues a series of regional forums. In 2026 they were held in Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Ruse, Burgas and Varna, where business, institutions and local economic communities exchange ideas and meet.
