The Council of Ministers adopted a Decision for the preparation and conduct of the elections for the National Assembly on April 19, 2026.
The cabinet assigns the Minister of Electronic Governance to coordinate the implementation of activities related to the organizational and technical preparation of the elections, including the activities of coordination with the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the conditions and procedures for the preparation, delivery and storage of election documents and materials.
The Minister of Interior should organize the implementation of the activities within the competence of the Ministry of Interior in connection with the preparation and conduct of the elections.
The Minister of Finance will submit to the Council of Ministers a draft tariff according to which parties, coalitions and initiative committees pay for pre-election broadcasts on Bulgarian National Television and Bulgarian National Radio and their regional centers.
The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works coordinates the activity for the preparation and publication of the voter lists.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs organizes the preparation and conduct of the elections abroad.
The Minister of Justice organizes the activities for the preparation and conduct of the elections in places of deprivation of liberty. It also issues the penal decrees under Art. 496, para. 3, sentence two of the Election Code.
The Minister of Electronic Governance organizes the activity for the technical provision of video surveillance and video recording under Art. 57, para. 1, item 34 of the Election Code, including by concluding the necessary contracts for this purpose.
According to the government's decision, the Minister of Electronic Governance, the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and the Minister of Justice will inform the Prime Minister about the progress of the preparation of the elections until the announcement of the election results.
The Council of Ministers adopted on April 23 the plan-estimate for the parliamentary elections on April 19, which is worth 65 million euros. In its final version, the estimate will be around 75-80 million euros, informed the caretaker Finance Minister Georgi Klisurski.
