Dimitar Stoyanov: No sea mines have been provided to Ukraine
During parliamentary questioning, Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov categorically denied allegations that Bulgaria has provided sea mines to the Ukrainian armed forces.
The issue was raised by Member of Parliament Ivelin Parvanov regarding the scale of military aid for Kyiv and the security of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
Minister Stoyanov highlighted the following key points:
- Military aid: All shipments of weaponry are carried out based on decisions by the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers, with the list of specific equipment classified as "confidential."
- Air defense: Bulgaria independently guarantees the security of its skies through MiG-29 fighter jets and on-duty crews.
- Black Sea security: The country is closely monitoring the situation in the region, conducting regular reconnaissance flights with helicopters over territorial waters, especially following incidents in the vicinity.
The Minister assured the members of parliament that Bulgaria possesses the necessary capabilities to guard its airspace and maritime borders, dismissing concerns about external interference in the country's defensive capabilities.
