Mayor Dimitar Nikolov introduced the Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Sergey Ignatov, to the construction of the currently built high-tech student campus, which will be used by all universities in Burgas. The complex includes five buildings with dormitories for teachers and students, scientific laboratories, multifunctional conference, lecture and training halls. It also includes a training and sports center with halls for volleyball and basketball training, fitness and an athletics track, as well as charging stations for electric cars and bicycles.
After that, Minister Ignatov discussed with Mayor Dimitar Nikolov and with the rector of the National Music Academy, Prof. Sava Dimitrov, the future development of the branch of the NMA "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" in Burgas, newly opened yesterday with a decision of the Council of Ministers.
During the meeting, it became clear that the branch will start its activities during the 2026/2027 academic year and will offer training in the professional field "Musical and Dance Art". The educational process will be conducted in regular and part-time forms, allowing up to 120 students to be trained. In the regular form, specialties such as classical, pop and jazz singing, folk singing, classical guitar, kaval, gaida, gadulka, tambura, as well as pop and jazz guitar and bass guitar will be developed. The part-time form will offer training in ballet pedagogy and folk choreography.
The educational process in the branch will be led by established teachers of the Music Academy, who have proven themselves in their performing, pedagogical and scientific activities, and students will have the opportunity for full academic development, active creative activity and access to scientific resources and publications. The opening of the branch is a strategic step in the development of the Academy on the eve of its 105th anniversary, and will support young talents from the region, contributing to the enrichment of the cultural environment in Burgas and Southeastern Bulgaria.
During his visit, Minister Ignatov also met with the leadership of the Little Bulgarian School in Chicago, after the Ministry of Education and Science decided days ago on its official recognition and support, providing opportunities to expand the educational network and strengthen ties with the Bulgarian community abroad.
