The diplomatic breakthrough between the United Kingdom and France received international recognition on July 11, 2025, when the UN Refugee Agency declared its full support for the innovative migration mechanism.

UNHCR experts highlighted the key parameters of the joint initiative, which include precisely coordinated administrative procedures, large-scale exchange of strategic information, and development of legal routes for people seeking international protection.

The main goal of the project is to radically reduce the risks of unregulated sea crossings that threaten human life. Through structured and controlled migration channels, the two countries aim to prevent dangerous attempts to illegally cross the English Channel.

The innovative approach demonstrates a new model of international cooperation in migration policy, which places humanitarian principles and human security at the center of migration management.
