The Road Infrastructure Agency is implementing a large-scale restoration project of the strategic Danube Bridge facility, which covers a precise rehabilitation of a critical 320-meter section in the direction of Bulgaria.
The technical intervention includes comprehensive activities for a complete road surface renovation. Experts have laid the lower and wearing asphalt layers, while simultaneously performing waterproofing measures on the road slab.
Since the beginning of the repair campaign, a total of 621 reinforced concrete road panels have been produced, demonstrating the scale of the investment program. In the upcoming work week, restored pedestrian railings and light poles will be installed, which will be preserved according to their artistic value.
The project schedule provides for completing work on the Bulgarian lane at the beginning of September. Subsequently, the activities will continue on the 320-meter section towards Romania, which is parallel to the current repair section.
Construction interventions are carried out only during the daylight hours, taking into account meteorological conditions. The organization of the work process guarantees the possibility of two-way traffic in the non-repaired lane.
The management of the Road Infrastructure Agency makes an explicit recommendation to drivers to observe the introduced parameters for passing. A temporary speed limit of 20 km/h has been introduced, with an emphasis on preventing oversized vehicles that could compromise the restoration activities.
For maximum citizen information, the agency has created a specialized information section on its website, which provides current details about the ongoing Danube Bridge repair.
