Machine voting will be used in 9,373 polling stations across Bulgaria, and 2,249 of them will have two machines each, the Central Election Commission (CEC) decided. The commission has 11,622 devices for the stations, while 12,800 machines are being repaired. The two figures are different.
Under the criteria, stations with 300 to 779 voters get one machine, and those with more than 780 voters get two. Yordan Vasilev of the CEC presented the criteria at the meeting. He said the main criterion for the number of machines per station is the total number of machines the commission has.
Georgi Bakhanov of the CEC asked whether there are any other criteria besides the number of voters. Vasilev answered that the main criterion is the total number of machines the commission has.
More than 7,200 machines have already been repaired, CEC spokeswoman Stoyanka Balova told a briefing yesterday. She said all 12,800 machines must be ready by Thursday.
