Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev appointed Deputy Minister Maria Angelieva as National Coordinator for Combating Antisemitism. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, publishing the information on its official website.

The decision on the appointment was made within the framework of a redistribution of responsibilities between the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry emphasizes that the position of National Coordinator for Combating Antisemitism has been established at the level of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2022. The appointment is made by order of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. This approach, according to the ministry, ensures continuity and improves interdepartmental coordination of the country's efforts to counter modern manifestations of antisemitism.

From 2020 to 2024, Maria Angelieva held the position of Minister Plenipotentiary in the Office of Trade and Economic Affairs at the country's embassy in London. Prior to that, from 2014 to 2020, she was Minister Plenipotentiary, responsible for the consular service at the same embassy. From 2001 to 2009, Maria Angelieva was a Member of Parliament.
