Fog and Precipitation in the Country: Limited Visibility and Winter Conditions

Fog reduces visibility in several areas, while rain and snow are affecting the country. Road surfaces are wet, and there is black ice in some places.

Due to fog, visibility has been reduced in several areas of the country, announced the Road Infrastructure Agency. Visibility is reduced to 20 meters in the Shipka Pass area, to 30 m in the Vitinya area in the Sofia region, to 50 m in the Vratsa region, in the Petrohan Pass in the Montana region, as well as in the Malko Tarnovo area in the Burgas region. Visibility is also reduced due to fog in the Omurtag area, Targovishte region - up to 80 m, as well as in the Apriltsi and Dobrodan areas in the Targovishte region - up to 100 meters.

Temperatures in the country range from minus 3°C to plus 8°C. The weather over the country is cloudy. A light wind is blowing in the regions of Burgas, Varna, Dobrich, Razgrad, Silistra, Smolyan, Haskovo, Shumen and Yambol. Rain is falling in almost the whole country. Light snow is falling in the area of Stara Reka in the Sliven region and in the high parts of the Razgrad region. Road surfaces are mostly wet, in some places icing is possible. The roads are treated and passable under winter conditions, the road agency adds.

Cloudiness will increase today and in separate places in the western half of the country it will rain and snow, according to the forecast of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology. A moderate wind will blow from the east-northeast and cold air will continue to flow in. Maximum temperatures will be between 2° and 7°, in Sofia - around 5°.
