FC Sozopol will host Sekirovo this Saturday at 5pm in round 8 of the Southeast Third League. The village of Bulgarovo, as usual, is where the "sky blues" play their home games.
Coach Petar Kyumurdzhiev says his opponent's spot in the table should fool no one. "We're in for a tough game, because there are no easy games for us. Sekirovo scored 5 goals in their last match, and that's no accident — this team has quality no matter where it sits in the table. Whether the game is hard or not is down to us alone," he told the club's official website.
He said he wants his team to keep up its good run. Sozopol have lost just one of their last five games, he pointed out — to Atletik Kuklen. But he wouldn't say more about that match, only that conditions on the day weren't right.
For the game against Sekirovo, the coach confirmed goalkeeper Petar Rahnev and Daniel Ivanov will both be out, sidelined by long-term injuries and surgery. Two more players are dealing with illness, and a final call on whether they play will come at the last possible moment.
Kyumurdzhiev also brought up the team's exile from home turf, saying Sozopol have now gone eight months without playing at Arena Sozopol. "We've been away from Arena Sozopol for 8 months now, but there's nothing left to say about that. We just deal with the conditions we've got," he said.
