"Kragovrat" triumphs at the "Burgas Out of Season" festival: Youth cinema shines!

The film "Kragovrat" won the grand prize at the youth film festival "Burgas Out of Season". The forum gives students the opportunity to present their short films, focused on Burgas outside of the active season. This year, the internationalization of the festival was also announced.

The film “Cycle” by Anton Kolev and Gergana Filipova, with Gergana Filipova in the lead role, won the Best Film award for students and pupils at the youth film festival “Burgas Off-Season”. The director is Anton Kolev, the screenwriter – Gergana Filipova, the cinematographer – Antonina Atanasova, and the producer – Ina Yordanova. The award was presented by the mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov.

The festival gave the Burgas audience the opportunity to see short films created by pupils and students, made on the territory of Burgas Municipality and telling stories related to the city outside the tourist season. Feature, documentary, and experimental films with a duration of up to 15 minutes are eligible.

This year, 24 ideas were submitted, of which 12 projects participated. 10 teams realized their concepts, and 9 films reached the final screening. The jury was composed of: Alexander Donev (chairman), Ivan Nichev, Vanya Nikolova, Dimitar Stoyanovich, and Georgi Ivanov.

Awards were also presented to “Burgas, the one you don't know” by Raya Ruseva, “Meeting Off-Season” by Alexander Dzhimdzhinov, and the documentary film “Through Your Eyes” by Yoana Dimitrova and Nadezhda Derneva. The feature film “Dream” by Margarita Spiridonova was also awarded.

The festival director, Prof. Mihail Mihailov, announced that from next year, “Burgas Off-Season” will acquire international status.

The event is implemented with funding from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, Burgas Municipality, and the “Burgas 2032” Foundation.
