Expansion of the "Basket with Care" initiative
Five new retail chains are joining the national "Basket with Care" campaign, which aims to support households amidst inflation. The initiative, launched under the auspices of the government, guarantees more affordable prices for basic food products.
The initiative has a horizon of at least six months and provides for a discount of at least 15% compared to the regular retail price.
Which stores are participating?
In addition to the initial 8 chains – Billa, Kaufland, Lidl, Metro, Fantastico, CBA, Minimart, and DAR, five more have now been added:
- Mercanto
- RAY
- Burlex
- BulMag
- Macao
Program goals
- Support for Bulgarian producers: Promoting domestic agriculture through the priority inclusion of Bulgarian products.
- Price stability: Combatting speculation and ensuring predictability for the end customer.
- Social responsibility: Easing the financial burden on households in crisis.
According to the Prime Minister, "Basket with Care" is a key mechanism for transparent pricing and protecting consumer interests in Bulgaria.
