Five years of polar mission for "St. St. Cyril and Methodius"
The research vessel "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" officially marked five years since joining the N. Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy. On the occasion of the celebration, the vessel docked at the Nessebar Marine Station, where hundreds of visitors had the opportunity to explore its decks.
The ship is a symbol of Bulgaria's scientific research power and the logistical support for our Antarctic missions.
Those wishing to board the ship lined up in long queues to experience the daily life of the sailors. The "open doors" program included:
- Viewing the common areas and crew cabins;
- Visiting the captain's bridge;
- Learning about the workspaces from which complex maritime expeditions are managed.
Logistical support for Antarctica
Over the past five years, "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" has established itself as a key element in the logistical support of national expeditions to Antarctica. The crew has already completed four successful voyages to the Ice Continent and is preparing for its fifth consecutive mission in some of the harshest climatic conditions on the planet.
