The Budget and Finance Committee of the Parliament adopted a draft decision on procedural rules for the election of a candidate for Deputy Governor, heading the "Issuing" department at the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB).

The draft was adopted with 12 votes "for", 5 votes "against" and not a single "abstention".

According to the draft, the Governor of the BNB will propose a candidate within 7 days after the adoption of the rules. The proposal and documents will be published on the website of the National Assembly 7 days before the hearing.

In the initial version, the deadlines were 3 days, but they were extended to 7 days at the proposal of the chairman of the committee, Delyan Dobrev.

Criticism from the opposition:

The adoption of the rules takes place after Andrey Gyurov, former Deputy Governor of the BNB, became caretaker Prime Minister, which necessitates the election of a new Deputy Governor.
