The Regional History Museum – Burgas and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), which are organising the event, said the monograph "Metropolitan Simeon of Varna and Preslav and the Bulgarian Revival" will be presented on Thursday, 5 November, at 5.30pm at the History Museum in Burgas.
Assoc Prof Dr Dimitar Hristov of the Institute for Historical Studies at BAS wrote the book. Dr Ivanka Deleva, deputy director of the museum, will present it to guests.
The book is a biographical sketch. Hristov looks at Metropolitan Simeon (1840–1937) as a figure of the Revival, a witness to his era and a keeper of its memory.
The study draws on original sources, both published and from archives. Some of them are entering scholarly use for the first time. The announcement says the book touches on many different historical questions and that its value goes beyond its main topic.
The Institute for Historical Studies published the book in Sofia in 2025. Hristov gained the title of associate professor with it in January 2026.
He defended his doctoral thesis on Bulgarian historiography in 2009 and has worked at the BAS institute since 2012. He taught history for many years and has more than 40 academic publications, mainly on the history of the Orthodox Church and the Bulgarian Revival.
The museum is at 31 Lermontov Street.
