Today, a public discussion on the topic: "The priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) and the importance of the current European agenda for Bulgaria" will be held at the Central Military Club in Sofia.
Cyprus, an EU member since 2004, took over the presidency of the Council of the EU for the second time on January 1st.
The panel discussion, led by Gergana Passy, chair of PanEuropa Bulgaria, will be attended by Charalambos Kaffkaridis, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Bulgaria, Georg Georgiev, Minister of Foreign Affairs in resignation, and Yordanka Chobanova, Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria.
Representatives of Bulgarian institutions, the diplomatic corps, academia and civil society will also attend the forum, with the aim of promoting an informed public debate about the future of the European Union and Bulgaria's role in it.
The discussion is organized by PanEuropa Bulgaria in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Bulgaria, the "Konrad Adenauer" Foundation, the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Union of Reserve Officers "Atlantic".
Leaders of European institutions, leaders and representatives of states and governments, as well as representatives of other organizations and bodies are among those invited to the opening ceremony of the Cypriot presidency of the EU today in the building of the Cyprus Theatre Organization in Nicosia, the Cypriot agency CNA reported for BTA yesterday.
