The Bulgarian government has officially confirmed a case of unauthorized access affecting key administrative networks. The breach was discovered in the context of ongoing work on the implementation of the new national cybersecurity system.

Data currently available indicates long-standing activity within the compromised systems, the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation reported.

Measures Taken and Investigation

At the current moment, the competent authorities are conducting a large-scale technical investigation aimed at determining:

• The full scope of the breach;
• The nature of the malicious activity performed;
• Potential risks to the security of the national digital environment.
