The government has released €60.7m for the 19 April parliamentary election, the Council of Ministers press office said. The money covers costs the state has already incurred.
The actual cost was €5m lower than planned. On 23 February 2026, under Decree No. 38, the cabinet approved a budget of €65m for the vote.
Klisurski forecast at the time that the final bill would come to about €75–80m.
The money was approved after the 2026 State Budget Act came into force, as the February decree provides. Until then, including during the vote, the budget had not been adopted. The election budget was paid under the law on collecting revenue and making expenditure in 2026. That law stays in force until the state budget, the state social security budget and the National Health Insurance Fund budget for 2026 are adopted.
The finance ministry has received reports on the money actually spent. It will come from funds set aside for this purpose in the 2026 central budget, and from restructuring spending and/or transfers during the year.
