An incident with an international civilian aircraft caused serious tension in the airspace of Central Europe. Ryanair flight FR-9962, connecting Sofia and London, was subjected to extraordinary restrictive measures by Czech aviation authorities.

According to the specialized site The Aviation Herald, the air incident developed dramatically over Austrian territory. The aircraft with registration number SP-RNH, which was preparing to enter Czech airspace, was categorically prevented by local control authorities.

Forced to change its course, the Boeing turned left and remained in Austrian airspace. Additional security measures were taken over German territory, where two Eurofighter jets joined the civilian aircraft.

The military escorted the aircraft to the border with the Netherlands without establishing specific threats. Despite the complicated situation, the flight continued successfully and landed at Stansted Airport in London on runway 04.

According to the data received, Czech authorities had advance information about a potential attack plan, which triggered the unprecedented restrictive actions. The aircraft stayed one night at Stansted and resumed its regular flights the next morning.
