The "Cyber Defenders" exhibition opens on October 7 at 12:00 in the lobby of the NHK Culture House at 1 Troikata Square in Burgas.
Burgas mayor Dimitar Nikolov and Bulgarian Security Academy chairman professor Vladimir Bronfenbrenner will open it. The slogan is "Together against cyberbullying of children," and the exhibition is about keeping kids safe online.
The program began in Bulgaria in 2019 on professor Bronfenbrenner's initiative, and since 2021 has run with Israel's child online protection agency as a partner. Since March 2024 it has also been piloted at the Hristo Botev secondary school in Septemvri, where 31.8% of children say they've been harmed online — the lowest rate in the country.
Program figures show that over the past four years, the number of children in Bulgaria who have suffered cyberbullying has dropped by 302,400, with the share falling from 64.5% to 49.6%. The EU average is 52%.
Burgas province joined the program as a pilot area in December 2025, as part of the education ministry's National Security Program, backed by Burgas council and the Burgas regional education office. Schools across the province will run the training themselves for fourth-graders.
