The renowned writer Ivan Suhivanov won third place in the prestigious national literary competition for short stories "Yordan Radichkov", held in Berkovitsa, with his impressive collection "Late Trains, Rainy...".
The awarding of this prize is a recognition of his talent and creative mastery.
The book, awarded with the prestigious third place, was published in August under a competition program, supported by the Ministry of Culture, by the Burgas publishing house "Libra Scorpio". The work also reveals a memoir character, including characters associated with Burgas and the coast, during the dynamic 70s, 80s and 90s of the last century. Readers can expect insightful stories that transport the reader to a bygone era.
The grand prize of the competition was awarded to Plamen Antov for his collection of short stories "Up the River Backwards". Second prize went to Simeon Botev for his book "The Inevitable Heir".
The awarding of these authors reflects the high level of artistic value that the competition traditionally maintains.
In addition to the three main prizes, two additional awards were also presented. The "Fierce Mood" award went to Petar Marchev for his work "The Indian Who Drank My Watermelon". Lyuboslava Traykova was awarded a debut prize "Attempt to Fly" for her collection "Roots and Light".
The selection of the finalists was a difficult task for the jury, which consisted of established names in literary circles. The chairman of the jury was the critic and writer Mitko Novkov. The other members included the writer and winner of the award from the previous year, Deyan Enev, the writer Pencho Kovachev, the representative of the Municipality of Berkovitsa - the literary scholar and philologist Iva Vasileva, and the writer Goran Atanasov. The jury had the responsible task of evaluating the numerous works, representing a variety of styles and themes.
