Demerdzhiev to GERB: Worry about your actions, not my words
Minister of the Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev commented on the threats from the GERB party to sue him over his statements. According to him, the political formation should focus on learning lessons from its governance rather than seeking legal accountability for the facts he has presented.
GERB should not be worried about my words, but about the practices that this political party has become a symbol of over the years, and should learn its lessons.
Corruption schemes and public procurement
Demerdzhiev confirmed that he stands by his claims regarding the existence of companies linked to Boyko Borisov that are involved in the supply of guardrails. The minister highlighted the main corrupt practices that the Ministry of the Interior is currently working on:
- Diversion of huge public resources;
- Misuse of funds;
- Inflation of prices in public procurement.
Comment on wiretapping reports
In relation to the DPS report about the possible illegal surveillance of Delyan Peevski, Demerdzhiev was categorical: "I would never order an employee to do something illegal." He added that the politicians' fixation on his person is a sign that his actions are in the right direction.
