The Bulgarian "lions" achieved an impressive 3:2 victory over Italy in Ljubljana, ending an 11-year drought against the "azzurri" and breathing new life into their Nations League ambitions.

A spectacular return to the road to success

The Bulgarian men's national volleyball team demonstrated great spirit and returned to the right path in the Nations League. In a dramatic duel from Group 6, played at the "Stozice Arena" in Ljubljana, our boys managed to defeat world champion Italy with 3:2 sets (18:25, 25:20, 25:23, 19:25, 15:9).

This victory is not only prestigious but also historic, as it puts an end to an 11-year drought without a win against the "Azzurri".

Aleksandar Nikolov once again led the Bulgarian attack with 19 points, supported by Martin Atanasov (14 pts) and Asparuh Asparuhov (13 pts). For Italy, Kamil Rychlicki was the top scorer with 18 points.

With this success, Bulgaria climbed to seventh position in the provisional standings. Tomorrow, a clash with Slovenia awaits.
