A large-scale initiative within the international environmental project FOODWISE will be implemented in July in the coastal city of Pomorie. On July 21 and 22, between 9:00 and 12:00, a specially designated information point will draw attention to food waste issues for local residents and tourists.
The organizers from the Biomrezha Association have developed an attractive mechanism for direct impact on public consciousness. Every visitor who brings food waste collected during beach time or a walk will receive a fresh seasonal fruit or vegetable as an alternative reward.
The location of the "Food Patrol" is chosen extremely precisely – a site on Coastal Street, directly next to the Orpheus restaurant. This strategic position guarantees maximum visibility and accessibility for the general public.
The main goal of the project is to promote the concept of reasonable and responsible consumption. Experts will advise citizens on how to cook economically, reduce waste, and simultaneously maintain a healthy diet.
The initiative is implemented under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin program and receives partial funding from the European Union. An important clarification is that the presented views are entirely the responsibility of the Biomrezha Association and do not necessarily reflect the official position of the union.
