Iliana Iotova's position regarding military aid to Ukraine
Vice President Iliana Iotova stated that the government and the Minister of Defense are strictly following the National Assembly's decision from December 2022. According to her, Bulgaria sends weapons and ammunition to Ukraine only when it has surpluses that do not threaten our own national security.
"There is no way to give something that we do not have or that is not enough, because first and foremost it is important to ensure our own national security," Iotova emphasized.
She added that the fulfillment of contracts by the Bulgarian military-industrial complex continues as planned, which maintains good relations with Kyiv.
Key highlights from the statement:
- EU compensation: Bulgaria does not receive 100% compensation for the provided aid through European mechanisms.
- North Macedonia: Iotova was categorical that Skopje must fulfill its commitments regarding the inclusion of Bulgarians in the Constitution.
- The "Botas" contract: The Head of State noted that institutions are working to clarify the matter.
