Approximately 350 kilograms of Prussian carp were rescued and returned to the waters of Lake Vaya following an intervention by the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture. The fish were discovered in a "fishing trap" consisting of 15 gillnets, which inspectors from IARA-Burgas pulled out during a routine patrol of the area.
The total length of the illegally placed equipment seized from the reservoir near Burgas reached 750 meters. The agency stated that the fish were released immediately after officers discovered them in the nets during the inspection.
With the goal of effectively protecting fish stocks and curbing unregulated fishing, IARA firmly stated that their inspections in the region will continue in the future.
