Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov stated that the topic of high electricity bills and rising water prices is being used for political insinuations.

In recent days, we have received many signals from concerned citizens regarding the increase in the price of water and high electricity bills. The topic is being used for political insinuations and for transferring responsibility, and therefore let's be very clear - electricity bills are not a surprise, said Andrey Gyurov at a briefing in the Council of Ministers, after convening a meeting with the relevant ministers.

Last year there were several increases in the price of electricity, and adding to this the increased consumption of electricity during the cold months, it logically leads to increased bills. These are decisions that were made before the current administration. The same applies to water. The proposal to increase the price of water was adopted in December last year by the Commission for Energy and Water Regulation and it was deliberately delayed for several months in order to explode in the hands of the caretaker government. These are also actions that were taken during the previous cabinet. I.e. we do not have a new government - new prices, we have a new beginning - new prices, he said.
