Land art masterpiece on the sand
On May 24, the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture, the beach at the "Sunny Day" complex near Varna turned into a canvas for large-scale art. Artist Vivia Niki created an impressive 350-square-meter composition depicting the Glagolitic letter "SLOVO" (Word).
"In the beginning was the Word..." – the project intertwines ancient script with the philosophy of the origin of life and knowledge.
Symbolism and geometry
The work uses clean geometric shapes – a circle and a triangle, which are most clearly visible from the air. This is Niki's seventh consecutive work dedicated to Slavic literacy.
- Scale: 350 sq. m of sandy area.
- Conditions: The work was created during dynamically changing weather – wind, rain, and light, which became part of the artistic process.
- Message: The Word as a primal code connecting the sea, the horizon, and human knowledge.
This land art object remains as a temporary but powerful cultural mark, reminding us of our deep roots and the spirituality that defines us as a people.
