GERB-SDS has tabled a draft decision in parliament that would pay firms back in full for electricity costs above €92 per megawatt hour. The payments would come every month and apply from 1 October 2026.
GERB MP and former energy minister Zhecho Stankov announced the plan on Monday. He and Temenuzhka Petkova will present it in parliament today at 11:00.
If MPs reject the plan, "this month business electricity bills will be two and a half times higher than in the summer of this year", Stankov warned.
He said monthly payments would make energy costs easier for companies to plan. If the plan passes, Stankov said, all small and medium-sized businesses would get help, "from the hair salon to the corner shop".
