MEP Tsvetelina Penkova will participate today in the online discussion "Ask an MEP: What is the future of energy in Europe," where she will present in her capacity as Vice-Chair of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and rapporteur for the Trans-European Networks for Energy (TEN-E) Regulation. The conversation will be moderated by Teodor Stoychev, Head of the European Parliament Office in Bulgaria.
The meeting is organized by the European Parliament Office in Bulgaria as part of the "Ask an MEP" initiative, which is aimed at civic engagement. The goal of the online discussion is to examine key aspects facing the Union's energy sector. According to information from the EP Office, the focus will be placed on the following strategic issues:
- the direction in which energy in Europe may head;
- the allocation of funding to the energy sector in the long-term EU budget until 2034;
- the role of nuclear energy in the overall energy mix;
- the interconnectivity of energy markets and the security of the EU energy system.
Questions can also be submitted in real time during the broadcast via the comments under the Facebook stream.
Decisions on the EU energy mix and infrastructure funding will determine energy prices and security for households in Burgas and the region.
The discussion will be broadcast live on Facebook and on the YouTube channel of the European Parliament Office in Bulgaria.
