In the resort village of Elenite, some people are refusing evacuation, Chief Commissioner Zahari Vaskov, Director of the General Directorate "National Police", told reporters after a meeting of the operational headquarters convened in connection with the complicated meteorological situation.

The situation in Elenite remains extremely difficult at the moment, as the heavy rains continue. Around 50 people – guests and hotel employees – are to be evacuated from the affected hotels. Some of the guests have moved to the upper floors of the buildings, considering them safer. However, they refuse to evacuate. "At the moment, colleagues on site are carrying out negotiations with them in order to evacuate them," explained Chief Commissioner Vaskov. He appealed to citizens to strictly adhere to the instructions of the law enforcement agencies.

A day earlier, after a meeting, it was ordered that all regional directorates review their action plans for disasters and accidents, with a special focus on floods. "Teams should be created for round-the-clock monitoring of critical locations," added Chief Commissioner Vaskov.

"Everywhere there are police teams who are ready to evacuate people if necessary," he stated. According to his words, earlier in the day 30 people were evacuated in Tsarevo, but they are already in their homes, as the danger has passed.

Earlier today, ministers from the government presented current information on the situation in the flooded areas of Burgas region and announced measures to address the consequences of the disaster.
