A violent brawl between two minority groups has shaken the town of Sungurlare, resulting in a tragic death and multiple injuries. The Burgas Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior confirmed to the media that the incident occurred on Sunday evening, around 8:58 p.m., at a private property located at 32 Ivan Vazov St.
Tensions escalated due to long-standing grievances and disputes over horses. The initial argument quickly moved from the house to the yard, where the situation spiraled into a mass brawl involving stabbings. As a result of his severe injuries, a 45-year-old man from Sungurlare passed away in the ambulance while the emergency team was attempting to transport him to the hospital.
Four people have been admitted to medical facilities in the city of Burgas with serious injuries:
- A 65-year-old woman from Sungurlare was injured and is admitted to the Neurosurgery Department of UMBAL – Burgas with a laceration and contusion on her head.
- A 15-year-old youth from Sungurlare was admitted to the First Surgery Department of UMBAL – Burgas with a stab wound to his back.
- A 21-year-old man from Sungurlare sustained serious injuries, including a stab wound to his right shoulder and a torn pectoral muscle. He has been admitted to the Orthopedics Department of Deva Maria Hospital.
- A 23-year-old woman from Sungurlare was also hospitalized in the Orthopedics Department of Deva Maria Hospital with a fractured left scapula and a hematoma on her head.
As part of the initiated pre-trial proceedings, law enforcement authorities have detained a total of eight individuals with criminal records. The police are currently working actively to clarify the facts of the situation and the specific involvement of each detainee in the committed criminal act.
