Traffic on the "Trakia" highway has been fully restored after a serious road incident that blocked a section of the road in the early hours of the day. The incident, which involved multiple vehicles, caused significant difficulties for travelers heading to Burgas. The "Road Infrastructure Agency" (RIA) has officially confirmed that traffic at kilometer 127 is now moving without hindrance.
Details of the pile-up
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. and involved a total of five vehicles—four heavy-duty trucks and one passenger car. The collision occurred at the 127th kilometer of the highway, in the direction of the Black Sea city. The causes of the pile-up are still being investigated by the authorities.
As a result of the incident, traffic on the busy road section was seriously hindered. For hours, traffic was redirected only to the left lane of the road. Teams from "Traffic Police" immediately arrived at the scene of the accident to regulate traffic and ensure the safety of other road users. Police officers organized a detour and coordinated the road clearing work to avoid further incidents.
The work to remove the damaged vehicles and clear the road lasted for several hours, which led to the formation of long queues of cars and seriously delayed travelers on the Sofia-Burgas route. At present, after all obstacles have been removed and the road situation has normalized, the RIA assured that traffic has returned to its usual rhythm.
