Two men have been arrested in separate drug raids near Karnobat and in Sunny Beach, the regional police directorate in Burgas said.
Officers from the district police department in Karnobat searched several private properties in the town and in the village of Krumovo Gradishte. The same man, 37, lives in all of them. They found two cannabis plants, between 140 and 150 cm tall.
The properties also held 9 packs of plant protection and fertiliser products. Police also took 20 g of dried plant material, which they believe is cannabis.
The second case is in Sunny Beach. At about 9.55pm on 11 October, officers from the district police department in Nessebar stopped a 29-year-old man from the village of Smolnitsa, in Dobrich region, near the Continental hotel. He had dried green plant material shaped into small balls. Police seized about 8 g of marijuana.
Both men were taken to police stations and are being held for up to 24 hours.
Fast-track proceedings have begun in the Sunny Beach case. In the Karnobat case, pre-trial proceedings have started, in which investigators will establish where the plants, the dried material and the plant-care products came from.
Police say there is no information that the two detained men or the seized cannabis are linked. The cases fall under different district police departments and are being handled separately.
