The Regional Food Safety Directorate in Stara Zagora is taking radical veterinary actions as a result of a detected epizootic situation. The leadership of the institution, represented by Director Dr. Damyan Mikov, announced emergency anti-epidemic measures.
The incident is localized in a farm owned by two brothers from the village of Sheynovo, who were the first to report the presence of an infectious disease among their livestock. Experts define the case as extremely serious, which requires complete liquidation of the infected herd.
According to official statements from veterinary authorities, the destruction of 1000 sheep is an extremely necessary preventive measure to prevent the spread of the disease. Specialists emphasize that such actions are extremely painful but inevitable from an epizootic safety perspective.
The farmers will be financially compensated for their losses, and experts predict that herd recovery will take about a decade. This means long-term economic consequences for local livestock farmers.
Dr. Mikov emphasized the exceptional importance of a quick and coordinated response: "Today is an extremely challenging day. Our main goal is to eliminate this source of infection as quickly and effectively as possible".
Veterinary authorities are introducing a strict quarantine regime and monitoring of the area to prevent potential further spread of the disease. Parallel studies will be conducted on neighboring farms.
The case demonstrates the exceptional responsibility and professionalism of local veterinary services in dealing with potentially dangerous epizootic situations. Quick response and preventive measures are crucial for protecting the livestock sector.
