A large-scale national digital literacy initiative has been launched in Bulgaria, with the focus on building a comprehensive network of educational centers in public libraries.

The joint project of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy with the Global Libraries Foundation plans to create 760 digital clubs throughout the country. The total budget of 87.5 million leva is provided by the Recovery and Sustainability Plan, which guarantees the scale and serious potential of the initiative.

The main goal of the program is to provide accessible professional training in digital competencies. Participants will be able to acquire basic or intermediate levels of digital skills with the support of qualified mentors and the opportunity to receive officially recognized electronic vouchers from the Employment Agency.

Currently, over 100,000 vouchers have been issued, and the ambitious plan is to train more than half a million people by the end of 2025. Special emphasis is placed on supporting vulnerable social groups, young unemployed, and people who need retraining.

Experts emphasize the exceptional importance of digital skills in the modern labor market, especially in sectors such as information technology, logistics, and administrative services, where the demand for qualified personnel is continuously growing.
