The National Assembly begins today's plenary session with a debate on a bill to amend the Gender Equality Act. The proposal was submitted by the Council of Ministers and aims to implement the provisions of Directive (EU) 2022/2381 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 November 2022 on improving the gender balance among directors of companies listed on stock exchanges.
The new regulation sets a quantitative target of at least 33% representation of the underrepresented gender in director positions and supervisory boards. Public companies that do not meet this threshold will be required to adapt their selection procedures. The Minister of Labour and Social Policy is designated as the body responsible for monitoring and support in this area.
Also on the MPs' agenda is the first reading of amendments to the Higher Education Act. It is proposed that tuition fees for students in fee-paying programs should not be lower than 50% of the cost of education in the respective field, reducing the previous requirement of 60%.
Parliamentary oversight and legislative activities also include the ratification of a Service Level Agreement, standard package, regarding the provision of information and communication technology services between the State Agency for National Security and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The document, signed on 11 February and 16 February 2026, regulates the provision of IT services and support for the GOAML application.
