Bulgaria's parliament is hearing interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev today on the serious crime in Plovdiv on September 30. MPs backed the request unanimously, 203 votes to none, and put it first on the agenda.
Progressive Bulgaria filed the request after businessman Iliyan Filipov was killed in Plovdiv yesterday.
MPs pulled a second hearing with the minister off the agenda - one on public procurement for guardrails and on money going toward Delyan Peevski's flights. The move passed 131 to 62, with 10 abstentions. A revote was called, but the result stayed the same.
Parliament speaker Mihaela Dotsova proposed the agenda changes at the start of the session.
The guardrails and flights item had also been pushed back yesterday. MPs put it off until today because the minister could not make it to the chamber over the killing in Plovdiv.
