Police detained 11 people today in a joint raid on an organised crime group that smuggled migrants through Bulgaria to other EU countries, the State Agency for National Security (DANS) said.
Nine of those held are Bulgarians and two are foreigners. The migrants the group moved came from high-risk countries.
DANS and the National Police and Border Police directorates of the Interior Ministry took part in the operation. Officers searched 10 addresses in Sofia and Pernik region.
The investigation goes on under a pre-trial case led by the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office.
On 27 October, Border Police detained 19 people in a separate raid. Prosecutors charged four of them.
