Burgas enters the rhythm of the holidays with one of its most beloved winter initiatives – “Let's decorate Burgas”. The campaign, which back in 2007 started the first such Christmas initiative in the country, once again invites residents, institutions, and businesses to transform the city into a shining Christmas fairytale.
For nearly two decades, the people of Burgas have proven that when the community acts with mood and imagination, the streets and neighborhoods can shine brighter than ever. Hundreds of entrances, courtyards, facades, and spaces came to life year after year, transforming Burgas into a true symbol of the festive spirit.
By December 15th, anyone who wishes can join the friendly but competitive holiday challenge. Participation is easy and involves three steps:
- Create an attractive Christmas decoration;
- Take a picture or short video of it;
- Send the materials to email, adding your name, address, and phone number.
And while the participants create in their homes, offices, and venues, Burgas will welcome St. Nicholas Day with the traditional fairy tale of lights and music. Hundreds of thousands of lights already illuminate boulevards, squares, and public buildings, and the 18-meter Christmas tree on the central square will once again be the heart of the festive atmosphere.
The campaign is not just a competition – it is a shared experience that brings the spirit of the holidays to hospitals, schools, institutions, commercial properties, neighborhood spaces, and family homes. Every decorated shop window, every balcony, and every glowing window is a sign of personal initiative and a gift to the rest of the people of Burgas.
And this year, the most impressive participants will receive special prizes – vouchers for a visit to St. Anastasia Island, the Tourist Complex “Chengene Skele”, and the historical complex “Aqvae Calidae”.
With the arrival of the holidays and the new year, the campaign reminds us of something important: that the beauty we create around ourselves inspires joy, optimism, and a sense of community. And when thousands of small lights come together in one city – Burgas shines the brightest.
