On the eve of the official establishment of an initiative committee that will nominate Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev for the presidential race, a change occurred in the BSP's registration. Krum Zarkov, Chairman of the party's National Council and co-chair of the committee that nominated Iliana Yotova, has filed an official request to withdraw the application for participation in the October 25 vote.

As a result of this request, the Central Election Commission officially terminated the registration proceedings for the socialist party. At the same time, the political landscape is further shaped by the announcement from the "Velichie" party, which yesterday declared its intention to join the race for head of state and vice president.

The nominations put forward by "Velichie" include the party's leader, Ivelin Mihaylov, and Yuliana Mateeva. "Velichie" is a party with pro-Russian and Eurosceptic positions, and its leader, Ivelin Mihaylov, is among those accused in the prosecutor's investigation into the "Historical Park." Bulgaria and the EU support Ukraine and the sanctions against Moscow in the context of the full-scale Russian military aggression that began in February 2022.
