Yacht club Chernomorets Burgas claimed both Olympic-class championship titles at the 2026 Bulgarian National Sailing Championship in Nessebar. The club took first place in both the ILCA 6 and the 470 class, Chernomorets Burgas announced.
In the women's ILCA 6, no one could match Aleksandra Lukyanova. The Burgas club's sailor won six races and left her rivals far behind to claim yet another national title.
The club explained that the success stems from Lukyanova's systematic training. Her main goal is an Olympic quota for Bulgaria and Burgas in the ILCA 6 class and a place at the Los Angeles Games. Her first shot at that will come in January in Brazil, where she will face the strongest names in the world.
The club's second championship trophy went to young sailors Igor and Yura Veritelnik in the Olympic 470 class. The pair had already become national champions in the 420 class earlier in the season, and now they have triumphed in the 470 as well — one of the most competitive Olympic disciplines. The title came after a hard-fought battle against strong rivals, Chernomorets Burgas reported.
Semyon Emelyanov also made a very good impression. The sailor put together a series of strong races and was close to the podium, but a false start in the final race cost him disqualification and the bronze medal.
Veteran Atanas Kobarelov also turned in a solid performance in the Finn class. Throughout the championship he showed experience and consistency, posting a number of strong races despite fierce competition.
The club believes the results in Nessebar confirm the level of both the sailors and the coaches at Chernomorets Burgas. The coaching team continues to work purposefully on developing the Olympic classes, and the two titles cement the club's position as one of Bulgaria's leading sailing clubs. Attention is now turning forward — to upcoming international regattas and Olympic qualifiers — as Chernomorets Burgas continues to develop its athletes and establish Burgas as a hub of Bulgarian sailing.
