When and where will the by-elections take place?

On Sunday, June 14, residents of 13 settlements in the country will head to the polls to elect their new mayors. The decision was officially announced by the Central Election Commission (CEC).

By-elections are a key moment for local government, ensuring representation in municipalities and districts that have been left without an incumbent.

Preparation for the election process

Back on May 15, the CEC held a draw to determine the ballot numbers for the registered parties and coalitions. In parallel, attention is also focused on the composition of the CEC itself. On June 9, the parliamentary parties presented their nominations to Vice President Iliana Iotova, and the final hearings are scheduled for June 12.
