Burgas-born artist Andrey Yanev opens a watercolour exhibition, "Blue Mind", at Shipka 6. He and curator Elisaveta Stancheva, who is also from Burgas, presented it in an interview with Bulgarian National Radio, hosted by Maria Mira Hristova, just hours before the opening.
The watercolours are about the artist's states of mind. The show takes its name from a scientific concept about the brain activity of people near water. According to the concept, the mind tunes to different waves near water, and the author of the research called the effect "blue mind".
"We had a very deep sense of what blue mind is before I even realised it was a concept developed by science," Stancheva said.
Yanev wants visitors to leave everyday life at the gallery door and step into other spaces. The whole team is trying to take them by the hand and lead them into deep water, where dreams blur. The feeling of it should last five or ten minutes.
Yanev also performed a piece of music during the interview.
"Let them go back to themselves, to the chance to dive into deep childhood, to dive into their pure soul," the artist said.
